​Project Manager

Byrd Enterprises Unlimited, a local Federal Government contractor who performs grounds maintenance, janitorial, and small scale construction projects across the United States, currently has an immediate need for several Project Managers to manage upcoming and newly awarded Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery headstone raise and realignment projects.

Responsibilities of this position include but will not be limited to: the ability to understand and interpret technical drawings, being thoroughly familiar with all contract drawings, specifications, and requirements, the ability to understand and implement basic land surveying practices, perform Quality Control functions to ensure onsite work is meeting contract requirements, conducting safety meetings, managing a crew of up to ten foremen and grounds maintenance laborers to ensure the timely and economical completion of headstone raise and realignment projects, the ability to perform equipment and material buy downs and the ability to improve operations in the field to prevent job cost overruns, the ability to complete and submit daily reports and crew timecards, serve as the in-the-field direct point of contact for the Government project inspector, the ability to respond effectively to any Government project inspector concerns, the ability to effectively communicate with Government inspectors and representatives in an effort to maintain client relations.

Ideally, the successful applicant will posses past experience working with Government contracts in the headstone raise and realignment, construction, or grounds maintenance fields. Any previous work as a stone mason, brick layer, or experience using string lines to align objects on a grid system is a plus. Any previous work with the Department of Veterans Affairs is also a plus.

Applicants must exhibit the ability to work closely with others fostering cooperation and teamwork. Flexibly, adaptability, and decisiveness must be demonstrated to meet changing company directives. Applicants must possess strong organizational and time management skills. Applicants must be willing to travel for long periods of time to any project location in the United States. In order to meet specific contract requirements applicants must be capable of producing timely and detailed work. In order to meet the strict deadlines of Government contracts, applicants must be capable of working in a fast paced environment. In order to provide clear and concise direction to and from Government representatives and to provide updates on the progress of projects to Byrd Enterprises, management team, applicants must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. A proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) is also a plus.

Grounds Maintenance Laborer

Byrd Enterprises Unlimited, a Federal Government contractor who performs grounds maintenance, janitorial, and small scale construction projects across the United States, currently has several open positions for a Grounds Maintenance Laborer to serve on upcoming and newly awarded Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery headstone raise and realignment projects.

Applicants need to have the ability to legally work in the US, stand and walk for long periods of time, lift up to 65 lbs, and the ability to work in the elements. Work will consist of raising, realigning, and cleaning of cemetery headstones and renovating sod turf. Any previous work as a stone mason, brick layer, or experience using string lines to align objects on a grid system is a plus. Any previous work with the Department of Veterans Affairs is also a plus.

Applicants must exhibit the ability to work closely with others fostering cooperation and teamwork. In order to meet the strict deadlines of Government contracts, applicants must be capable of working in a fast paced environment.  

Pay scale is location and contract dependent as well as experience based.

Equipment Operator

Byrd Enterprises Unlimited, a Federal Government contractor who performs grounds maintenance, janitorial, and small scale construction projects across the United States, currently has several open positions for an experienced Equipment Operator to install helical anchors on upcoming and newly awarded Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery headstone raise and realignment projects.

Applicants need to have the ability to legally work in the US and the ability to work in the elements. Work will consist of raising, realigning, and cleaning of cemetery headstones and renovating sod turf. Applicants should be able to efficiently and accurately operate skid steer loaders and mini excavators using various types of attachments. Previous experience using skid steer loaders or mini excavators to install helical anchors is desired. Any previous work with the Department of Veterans Affairs is also a plus.

Applicants must exhibit the ability to work closely with others fostering cooperation and teamwork. In order to meet the strict deadlines of Government contracts, applicants must be capable of working in a fast paced environment.

Headstone Setters

Byrd Enterprises Unlimited, a local Federal Government contractor who performs grounds maintenance, janitorial, and small scale construction projects across the United States, currently has an immediate need for several headstone setters to perform setting of upright headstones and flat markers on newly awarded Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery headstone raise and realignment projects.

Previouis experience with raising, realigning, and resetting headstones on Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery project is required.

Pay scale is location and contract dependent as well as experience based.
